Best new car deals 2021

Thinking of buying a new model? Check out our list of the best new car deals right now

Don’t just dive in and buy a brand new car without doing your research first. After all, there could be a brilliant new car deal on the very model you’ve been considering, or even one that means you can afford a car you thought was out of your price range.

We’ve gone through all the major car manufacturers to find the best new car deals for 2021, focusing on Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) plans, since most people use this type of finance to buy new cars.

There are three main things you need to keep an eye out for when bargain hunting. The deposit, monthly repayments, and optional final payment are all key to getting a great deal, and if you’re not sure about what those are, read our handy PCP guide

It’s also important to know the interest rate, the length of the agreement, the mileage limit and the size of any deposit contributions the manufacturer will make. Most of our deals assume you’ll be putting down a deposit of around 10 to 15 per cent, and will be covering around 8,000 miles a year.

Top 10 best car deals this month

  1. Skoda Octavia Estate – £285 per month
  2. Renault Zoe - £199 per month

How does PCP finance work?

More than 90 per cent of the new cars sold in the UK are purchased using some kind of finance, so while list prices are often referred to, monthly figures and deposits are arguably more relevant. Most car makers have their own version of a Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) and they all work in the same way.

PCPs are best thought of in three parts: the deposit, the monthly repayments, and the optional final payment. The deposit is the cash you’ll put down up front. This can either be a straightforward lump sum, the value of your part-exchange, a deposit contribution from the manufacturer, or a combination of all three.

The size of the deposit will affect the size of your monthly repayments. These are typically made over a 24, 36 or 48-month period, but can be scaled up or down to suit your circumstances. The final part is the optional final payment, which is sometimes referred to as the ‘balloon payment’. Your deposit and monthly payments only go part of the way to paying off the car; in fact, they’re actually paying off its depreciation over the time you’ll have it. To own the car you’ll need to pay the full amount off, but not every buyer does.

Many drivers use the car’s ‘equity’ as the deposit on their next one. This ‘equity’ is made up of overpayments you may have made, since makers often overestimate how much a new car will depreciate to play it safe. This quirk of PCPs means you might not necessarily have to find a big deposit each time you take out a new deal.

If you don’t want to own the car outright or roll any ‘equity’ into a new deal, your third option is to hand the car back with no additional payments, and walk away.

Other ways to finance

Few buyers have the means or motivation to spend tens of thousands of pounds in one go. So while PCP deals are the most popular finance option, retailers also have an alternative, called Personal Contract Hire (PCH).

PCH

Also known as personal leasing, PCH deals require less capital up front. After an ‘initial rental’ or up-front payment, you make a series of regular payments until the agreement ends, after which you hand back the car and walk away.

While there’s no large deposit, unlike a PCP, which offers a reasonable degree of flexibility, a PCH will tie you in for the duration, with no option of handing the car back early without a financial penalty.

Hire purchase

Not many people choose hire purchase now, but it’s still possible to take out an old-fashioned HP agreement on a new car.

Put down a deposit then make monthly repayments that, unlike with a PCH or PCP deal, pay off the value of the car. At the end of the term you own the car outright.

HP agreements are secured against the vehicle, so tend to offer more attractive interest rates than those offered with unsecured bank loans, for example.

Cash, cards & loans

The days of cash being king are long gone in the new-car market and you may find the deals offered via this purchase method are less attractive than those available were you to take out a PCH or PCP deal.

Credit cards offer consumer protection against purchases of between £100 and £30,000, but have heavy interest rates. A bank loan with an attractive interest rate is another route. You’ll pay cash for the car, so dealer discounts are harder to come by.

Choosing the right car for you

Below we’ve highlighted some of our top choices in a range of categories. These are our considered recommendations, but they won’t suit everyone. You should spend time ensuring that the model you choose has the space, style, economy, and performance you need.

Once you’ve drawn up your shortlist, call round dealers to book test drives, and put the car to good use. Make sure you, and anyone else who will be driving it, is satisfied and can find a suitable driving position behind the wheel.

Take the kids along to ensure they can get comfortable, too, and that it’s easy to get child seats in and out. And if you have hobbies with specific requirements, make sure the car is up to the job.

Opting for GT-Line gets you plenty of kit in the excellent Picanto, which is great fun to drive and reliable.

Fiat 500 - £199 per month

  • Model: Fiat 500 70kW Action
  • Per month: £199

The all-electric Fiat 500 is our favourite city car of 2021 and it’s available for less than £200 per month on a very attractive PCP finance deal.

The 500 is stylish and features an upmarket interior and advanced infotainment, but it’s the electric powertrain at an affordable price that really makes it the best city car around.

Best supermini deals

Renault Clio – £209 per month

  • Model: Renault Clio Iconic TCe 90
  • Per month: £209
  • List price: £18,100

Thanks to 0 per cent APR you can get into the best supermini on sale for around £200 a month. It’s a bargain for this comfortable, smart-looking small car that’s packed with equipment.

This model is a mid-spec Iconic, but you can adjust your monthly rate by going for a lesser or higher-spec model depending on what kit you need. We reckon the middle of the range offers the best value for money, though.

Dacia Sandero - £173 per month

  • Model: Dacia Sandero Comfort TCe 90
  • Per month: £173
  • List price: £11,995

  • Final payment: £5,978
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £7,728
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £13,706

The Dacia Sandero is based on similar underpinnings to the Renault Clio, so it’s even more of a bargain. The interior is a little more plain but it has all the kit you need in Comfort spec and is comfortable, easy to live with and practical.

The low list price means that even with a high APR this PCP offer is very attractive, with a monthly cost of just £173 a month.

Vauxhall Corsa-e - £219 per month

  • Total paid by customer if returning: £13,865.04
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £24,673.06

The new Vauxhall Corsa is a great choice in general and there are some appealing deals on the petrol versions. However, it’s the all-electric Corsa-e that caught our eye, because not only is it a step into the future of motoring, it costs less per month than many conventional superminis.

The Corsa-e is smart-looking, good to drive, quiet and really cheap to run, and with this offer it’s a bit of a bargain - you can’t say EVs are too expensive any more.

The ID.3 is comfortable, good to drive, well equipped and really relaxing - it’s a perfect commuter that has room for the family at the weekends.

And while our Driver Power new-car survey related to the previous-generation Leon, our test team reckons this new model is just as sharp to drive as the Mk3 version.

Mazda 3 – £259 per month

  • Model: Mazda 3 Skyactiv-G SE-L
  • Per month: £259
  • List price: £22,615
  • Deposit: £3,521.75

  • Final payment: £9,618.75
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £12,845.75
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £24,214.50

With stand-out looks and a genuinely impressive driving experience, the Mazda 3 makes a strong case for itself. Inside, the brand has vowed it will retain physical knobs and dials rather than making touchscreens the sole means of control, a decision that resonates with many of our readers, and means the 3 is easy to use.

You can get deals with 0 per cent APR but because they’re short - over two years rather than three - you pay more per month. This 3.9 per cent deal is good value.

Kia Ceed - £279 per month

  • Model: Kia Ceed 1.0 GT-Line
  • Per month: £279.43
  • List price: £23,185

  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £25,216.48

A highly competent entry in the family hatchback market, the handsome Ceed can be yours for £3,000 down and £279 a month, helped by a deposit contribution of £2,500 from Kia.

We’d dodge the hesitant dual-clutch gearbox and go for the manual, while the turbocharged 1.0-litre engine has enough poke for long runs despite its small capacity. GT-Line trim offers a heated steering wheel and seats, as well as dual-zone climate control and a host of safety features.

Toyota Corolla - £229 per month

  • Model: Toyota Corolla 1.8 Hybrid Design
  • Per month: £229

Add into that a comfortable ride and competent handling, and you’ve got a family hatch with much more appeal than the Auris it replaced. Design trim includes 17-inch alloys and adaptive cruise control, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.

Best family car deals

Mazda 6 - £289 per month

  • Model: Mazda 6 2.0 145PS SE-L

Mazda’s current design language has featured on some fine-looking cars, and the 6 is no exception. Even the estate looks sharp (prices here are for the saloon), and making the 6 even more attractive is this low-cost deal. You can get a 0 per cent APR deal but the repayments are higher because it’s only for two years.

The Mazda 6 is something a bit different - the engine isn’t as punchy as rivals’ but it’s great to drive, both on long trips and on twisty roads.

Skoda Superb - £373 per month

  • Model: Skoda Superb 1.5 TSI 150PS SE-L
  • Per month: £372.62
  • List price: £29,055

The Superb benefits from Skoda’s offer of 0 per cent APR and a decent deposit contribution on top of what you put in, which keeps monthly payments affordable for this huge and practical family car.

A recent facelift means the Superb looks sharp, while it remains the most practical car in its class. SE-L trim includes all the main pieces of equipment modern buyers expect, while the 1.5-litre petrol provides good performance together with strong economy.

This deal sees a decent deposit contribution, though it’s more about value for money with the BMW - the 3 Series is fantastic and it’ll do anything and everything you ask of it.

The Renault Captur is our favourite small SUV and a big part of that is the price. With 0 per cent APR available on this two-year deal, it’s a bargain in terms of monthly cost but also the total you pay.

The Captur is similar to the Clio, in that it’s roomy, well-equipped, comfortable and has a smart interior that looks more expensive than it is. There’s all the tech you can want on this SE Limited model and the small petrol engine is efficient.

SEAT Arona - £311 per month

A decent deposit contribution and a good interest rate make repayments over the course of this 36-month contract reasonable, as does the knowledge that Lexus dealers have a great reputation.

Toyota C-HR - £239 per month

  • Model: Toyota C-HR 1.8 Hybrid Design
  • Per month: £239

  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £42,562.42

The XC40 is a great choice in the small premium SUV class, with its distinctive looks offering an interesting alternative to more mainstream rivals. That desirability may explain why Volvo isn’t offering a tempting interest rate, but strong residual values help keep the monthly PCP repayments palatable.

It’s especially interesting to those after a plug-in hybrid as this is very affordable for a premium SUV with batteries. You can charge up overnight and drive to work without using the petrol engine at all, saving even more cash.

Mazda CX-5 - £279 per month

  • Model: Mazda CX-5 2.0 165PS 2WD SE-L

We’ve gone for a petrol model in SE-L trim for this deal, which has all-round parking sensors, and an infotainment set-up with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus dual-zone climate control and adaptive cruise control.

Driver Power respondents tell us that the CX-5 is impressively well-rounded, with a strong series of scores that indicate the car has no major drawbacks at all. Perhaps understandably, some of the CX-5’s best marks are reserved for its exterior looks and cabin design, but owners also say it’s laden with safety kit, and offers strong reliability.

It’s an SE L with the excellent 1.5-litre TSI engine and an automatic gearbox, making it perfect for any kind of driving from motorways to school runs in heavy traffic. It’s comfortable, roomy and packed with tech.

  • Number of payments: 37
  • Final payment: £17,184.04
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £20,075.87
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £38,450.91

Honda really raised its game with the current CR-V, designing a car with a plush cabin that is easy, relaxing and comfortable to drive. Driver Power respondents also report the CR-V is reliable, immensely practical, and comes with great engines and gearboxes.

This deal gets you a hybrid CR-V for £309 a month, although you’ll need a hefty deposit to get those repayments. But Honda will knock £1,000 off the list price by way of a deposit contribution plus a £500 offer.

Kia Sportage - £334 per month

  • Model: Kia Sportage 1.6 diesel 48V GT-Line
  • Per month: £334.04
  • List price: £27,920
  • Deposit: £3,500
  • APR: 4.9%
  • Deposit contribution: £2,500
  • Number of payments: 36
  • Final payment: £12,447.26
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £15,525.44
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £30,472.34

Handsome, comfortable, practical and with great infotainment, the Sportage is an excellent family SUV, according to our readers, and Kia is offering a £2,500 deposit contribution to help ease you into one.

We’ve gone for the 1.6-litre diesel engine here, as it works well for keping running costs low thanks to 48V mild hybrid tech. GT-Line trim has tweaks such as dark chrome trim and 19-inch rims, plus leather seats and a sports steering wheel.

Peugeot 3008 - £299 per month

  • Model: Peugeot 3008 1.5 BlueHDi 130 Allure Premium
  • Per month: £299.39
  • List price: £32,340
  • Deposit: £5,581
  • APR: 4.9%
  • Deposit contribution: £3,050
  • Number of payments: 47
  • Final payment: £11,834
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £19,652.33
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £34,536.33

The stylish Peugeot 3008 impresses with eye-catching interior styling, sleek exterior looks and impressive practicality, as well as its decent driving dynamics.

This offer sees a low monthly payment of under £300. While Peugeot’s 4.9 per cent representative interest rate is average, rather than competitive, a £3,050 deposit contribution softens the blow.

Kit includes ambient lighting, a reversing camera and smartphone connectivity. The 1.5-litre diesel engine is really efficient and will be best for those doing long trips, where it’s punchy and sips fuel.

Toyota RAV4 - £279 per month

  • Model: Toyota RAV 4 2.5 Hybrid Design
  • Per month: £279
  • List price: £33,265
  • Deposit: £8,078
  • APR: 0%
  • Deposit contribution: £500
  • Number of payments: 24
  • Final payment: £18,270
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £14,774
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £32,765.

The RAV4 was the second best-selling car in the world in 2019, so Toyota doesn’t need to incentivise it much. Yet the firm is offering 0 per cent interest here, helping to put this practical and sharp-looking SUV on your drive for less than £280 a month, though you’ll need to put £8,078 down.

Design trim features 18-inch alloys, adaptive cruise and roof rails, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make the eight-inch infotainment – a bit of a weak spot for the otherwise excellent SUV – far more user-friendly.

Ford Kuga - £337 per month

  • Model: Ford Kuga 1.5 EcoBoost 150 Titanium
  • Per month: £336.83
  • List price: £26,445
  • Deposit: £3,500
  • APR: 0%
  • Deposit contribution: £0
  • Number of payments: 36
  • Final payment: £10,819
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £15,625.88
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £26,445

The Ford Kuga is a fantastic mid-size SUV with room for the family, a big boot, a comfortable driving experience and a range of smooth and quiet engines. This deal covers the 1.5-litre petrol model.

This deal from Ford is inviting, bringing 0 per cent APR and an affordable deposit yet with decent monthly payments, too. Titanium trim comes with LED lights, 18-inch alloy wheels and an infotainment system with smartphone connectivity.

Best large SUV deals

Volvo XC60 - £399 per month

  • Model: Volvo XC60 B5 Momentum
  • Per month: £399
  • List price: £42,430
  • Deposit: £5,409.28
  • APR: 4.9%
  • Deposit contribution: £4,000
  • Number of payments: 49
  • Final payment: £14,820
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £23,551
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £43,381.28

You need to be confident you’ll be happy with the car for 49 months for this deal; but we’re in premium mid-size SUV territory here, so there’s always a drawback for a deal this attractive. Either way, Volvo’s £4,000 contribution makes this an appealing contract, and as with all PCP deals, the resulting chunky initial payment reduces the monthly cost.

The XC60 has a fantastic interior and is awash with safety kit, although be prepared for relatively high running costs. Momentum trim has all the kit you need, as more expensive models add mostly cosmetic kit.

Land Rover Defender - £584 per month

  • Model: Land Rover Defender 90 D250 AWD SE
  • Per month: £584
  • List price: £53,260
  • Deposit: £8,000
  • APR: 5.9%
  • Deposit contribution: £0
  • Number of payments: 44
  • Final payment: £27,890
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £33,696
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £61,013.61

The new Land Rover Defender is selling so well that this deal is more about the car than the cost - it’s such an impressive SUV that it’s worth considering even with a relatively high APR. It’s not cheap, but it’s a great car in all sorts of situations, from motorways to byways.

We named it Best Mid-size Premium SUV at the 2021 Auto Express Awards.

BMW X3 - £411 per month

  • Model: BMW X3 xDrive20i xLine
  • Per month: £410.81
  • List price: £43,370
  • Deposit: £6,505.50
  • APR: 2.9%
  • Deposit contribution: £2,909.90
  • Number of payments: 48
  • Final payment: £17,612.93
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £26,224.38
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £46,336.40

With a reasonable deposit down on a new X3, BMW will add nearly £3,000 and monthly repayments for one of the best premium SUVs around drop to just £411 a month.

The X3 is fantastic inside, with great materials and comfortable seats, but it excels when it comes to the driving experience. It’s comfortable, enjoyable to drive and the engines are smooth and quiet.

SEAT Tarraco - £379 per month

  • Model: SEAT Tarraco 1.5 TSI 150PS FR
  • Per month: £379
  • List price: £33,140
  • Deposit: £6,334
  • APR: 0%
  • Deposit contribution: £0
  • Number of payments: 36
  • Final payment: £13,540.50
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £19,978
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £33,140

The SEAT Tarraco was our 2021 Large SUV of the Year, so the fact you can get into one on a 0 per cent APR deal is great to see. There’s no deposit contribution but the payments are low and the deposit is affordable, so we’ll forgive that in this great deal.

The SEAT is roomy, well equipped, good to drive and has a big boot if you fold down the sixth and seventh seats in this practical seven-seater model.

Jaguar F-Pace – £399 per month

  • Model: Jaguar F-Pace 2.0 D200 R-Dynamic S AWD
  • Per month: £399
  • List price: £45,025
  • Deposit: £8,170
  • APR: 3.9%
  • Deposit contribution: £0
  • Number of payments: 49
  • Final payment: £20,313
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £27,721
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £49,385

The Jaguar F-Pace is one of our favourite premium SUVs, and you can get into a high-spec R Dynamic model with four-wheel drive for less than £400 a month. It’s good to drive, practical and packed with tech, plus it looks great inside and out.

The drawback with this particular deal is the long contract length, so you’ll need to be sure that you want to stick with the F-Pace for 49 months.

Skoda Kodiaq - £409 per month

  • Model: Skoda Kodiaq 1.5 TSI 150PS DSG SE L
  • Per month: £409
  • List price: £33,790
  • Deposit: £4,922
  • APR: 0%
  • Deposit contribution: £0
  • Number of payments: 36
  • Final payment: £14,553
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £19,646
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £33,790

The Skoda Kodiaq is one of the best-value large SUVs around and this 0 per cent APR deal is a great way of getting into one. It’s not got the lowest monthly payments but the total cost is low next to other similar options.

The excellent 148bhp 1.5-litre TSI engine comes with this particular Kodiaq, while SE L trim includes 19-inch alloys, LED headlights, leather/synthetic suede heated seats, plus an eight-inch infotainment screen.

Kia Sorento - £473 per month

  • Model: Kia Sorento 1.6 Hybrid 7-seat 2
  • Per month: £472.59
  • List price: £39,360
  • Deposit: £6,000
  • APR: 4.9%
  • Deposit contribution: £1,000
  • Number of payments: 37
  • Final payment: £19,171.92
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £19,932.44
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £23,485.83

The Kia Sorento only missed out on a gong at the 2021 Auto Express Awards because it’s not quite as good value as the SEAT Tarraco, and you can see that here in the PCP offer. An average APR figure means that even with a £1,000 deposit contribution, it’s a little pricey.

Yet you get a lot for your money here - an advanced hybrid powertrain, loads of standard kit, smart looks and an upmarket, roomy interior.

Lexus RX - £499 per month

  • Model: Lexus RX 450h
  • Per month: £499
  • List price: £52,515
  • Deposit: £8,479
  • APR: 1.9%
  • Deposit contribution:  £2,000
  • Number of payments: 42
  • Final payment: £23,751
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £29,437
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £54,689

The luxurious Lexus RX hybrid can be yours for less than £500 a month, thanks to a deposit contribution of £2,000 and 1.9 per cent APR. It’s a great option for those looking to dip their toes into the water of electrified cars.

All examples of the RX come with leather, a 12.3-inch infotainment system (including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) plus LED headlights, and the Lexus is comfortable to drive, reliable and really- well-built inside.

Best MPV deals

Peugeot Rifter - £309 per month

  • Model: Peugeot Rifter 1.2 PureTech 110 Allure
  • Per month: £309
  • List price: £23,620
  • Deposit: £4,069.63
  • APR: 4.9%
  • Deposit contribution: £2,050
  • Number of payments: 47
  • Final payment: £7,814
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £18,592.63
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £26,406.63

SUVs are in greater demand than people carriers, which leads to higher depreciation for MPVs. This is why the humble Rifter looks a little expensive next to some of the SUVs on this list, but none of those can compare if you really need interior space.

It’s one of the roomiest models around, with seven seats, a huge boot and plenty of standard kit for the money. It’s easy to drive and effortlessly practical, so don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.

Best executive car deals

Audi A6 - £419 per month

  • Model: Audi A6 S line 40 TFSI 204 PS S tronic
  • Per month: £419
  • List price: £43,630
  • Deposit: £4,972.24
  • APR: 2.9%
  • Deposit contribution: £5,000
  • Number of payments: 47
  • Final payment: £16,815
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £24,665.24
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £41,490.24

With a £5,000 deposit contribution available from Audi, the A6 saloon looks like a very appealing executive car. It’s stylish, has a fantastic cabin packed with tech and it’s good to drive, with a comfortable ride and smart handling.

This deal covers a petrol model, and this is great for all-round use because it’s quiet and smooth - but a diesel version is better for long motorway trips.

Alfa Romeo Giulia - £399 per month

  • Model: Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.0 Turbo Petrol 200hp Sprint
  • Per month: £399
  • List price: £36,595
  • Deposit: £5,519
  • APR: 3.9%
  • Deposit contribution: £2,500
  • Number of payments: 48
  • Final payment: £12,995
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £24,671
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £37,267

The Alfa Romeo Giulia is a small executive car that stands out from the crowd with its stylish looks, but the best reason to buy one is because it’s brilliant to drive. There isn’t a dull moment behind the wheel of the Alfa, and it should be a pleasant buying experience too with a £2,500 deposit contribution from the maker.

You can also get three years’ servicing for £399, which is a pretty low price for that amount of maintenance.

BMW 5 Series - £469 per month

  • Model: BMW 520i M Sport
  • Per month: £469
  • List price: £43,685
  • Deposit: £4,569
  • APR: 2.9%
  • Deposit contribution: £4,993.88
  • Number of payments: 48
  • Final payment: £14,903.60
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £27,171
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £46,509.48

Still king of the executive car park, the 5 Series is as at home on a winding road as it is on a ruler-straight motorway, while also being smooth and quiet in 520i form with the petrol engine. There’s a generous deposit contribution of nearly five grand, too.

Owners told us in our Driver Power survey that the 5 Series comes with impeccable engines and gearboxes, and is an absolute dream to drive, although servicing is said to be rather expensive.

Best convertible car deals

Mazda MX-5 - £319 per month

  • Model: Mazda MX-5 1.5 Skyactiv-G SE-L
  • Per month: £319
  • List price: £24,865
  • Deposit: £3,848.50
  • APR: 3.9%
  • Deposit contribution: £1,500
  • Number of payments: 36
  • Final payment: £9,771.75
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £15,332.50
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £26,604.25

Two doors, two seats, rear-wheel drive and a fabric roof – the MX-5 has appealing enough facets already, made all the more attractive by this low-cost deal with an affordable deposit, low repayments and a decent contribution.

While this roadster isn’t very practical, owners love its handling, looks and reliability. SE-L trim includes LED lights and heated seats to make chilly top-down drives more comfortable. The 1.5-litre engine is zingy and a lot of fun to use with the top-notch manual gearbox.

Best hybrid car deals

Hyundai Tucson - £298 per month

  • Model: Hyundai Tucson 1.6 Hybrid SE Connect
  • Per month: £297.58
  • List price: £32,460
  • Deposit: £6,200
  • APR: 0%
  • Deposit contribution: £750
  • Number of payments: 37
  • Final payment: £14,798.52
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £17,210.46
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £31,710

The new Hyundai Tucson hybrid is great value, especially as it’s being offered with 0 per cent APR at the moment. This means with a reasonable deposit the monthly repayments dip below £300, which is really cheap for a hybrid SUV with room for the whole family.

The new Tucson is the smartest-looking model yet and has a great interior with lots of standard kit. It’s practical, comfortable and easy to drive.

Toyota Yaris - £189 per month

  • Model: Toyota Yaris Hybrid Design
  • Per month: £189
  • List price: £22,150
  • Deposit: £4,698.50
  • APR: 0%
  • Deposit contribution: £500
  • Number of payments: 42
  • Final payment: £9,202.50
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £12,636.50
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £21,650

The Toyota Yaris was our Affordable Hybrid Car of the Year 2021 and you can see why, with this stunning deal with repayments of less than £190 a month, plus 0 per cent APR and £500 off the list price.

The Yaris Hybrid is good to drive, very quiet and smooth, well equipped and relatively practical for a supermini. It’s efficient, cheap to run and easy to live with too, so it’s a perfect city car for those without a home charging point for an EV.

Best electric car deals

Nissan Leaf - £299 per month

  • Model: Nissan Leaf e+ 62kWh N-Connecta
  • Per month: £299
  • List price: £30,445
  • Deposit: £4,717.54
  • APR: 0%
  • Deposit contribution: £0
  • Number of payments: 37
  • Final payment: £14,963.46
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £15,780.54
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £30,445

Nissan is offering 0 per cent APR on the Leaf, which makes electric motoring very affordable indeed - even with a reasonable deposit of less than £5,000. This model is in N-Connecta trim and includes part-leather seats, all-round parking sensors and 17-inch alloys.

It’s also the 62kWh e+ model and can cover a claimed 239 miles between charges, which means this offer is brilliant value. The Leaf isn’t as flashy as some other newer EVs but it’s great value here.

Renault Zoe - £199 per month

  • Model: Renault Zoe R135 Rapid Charge GT Line
  • Per month: £199
  • List price: £32,095
  • Deposit: £8,953
  • APR: 0%
  • Deposit contribution: £1,750
  • Number of payments: 37
  • Final payment: £14,228
  • Total paid by customer if returning: £16,316
  • Total paid by customer if keeping: £32,095

The Zoe is an affordable route to EV ownership at present, and if you’re after an electric family car, it’s a strong contender. Renault will bump up the Government’s Plug-in Car Grant (already factored into the price here) with a £1,750 deposit for this deal, which is for a GT Line model with the Rapid Charge functionality.

Real-world range is roughly 200 miles, and the Zoe is pleasant inside, comfortable, quiet and easy to drive. It’s a great route into EV ownership especially on this 0 per cent APR deal.
